How to set up co-production

How to set up co-production

Co-production is a way to split product commissions among 2 or more users on Kiwify.

This allows you to partner with others without worrying about tallying and dividing the revenue generated by the product. Our platform handles everything automatically.

For example:

- You want to create a cooking course in partnership with a friend.
- You manage the product and sales, while your friend creates the content.
- You agree to split the product revenue 60% / 40%.

Simply set this up in the co-production agreement, and you're all set! Commissions will be automatically divided.

There's no limit to the number of co-producers on a product, but the product owner must retain at least 20% of the commission, and the co-producer must have at least 1%.
Only the main producer can make modifications to the product. Co-producers have access to the sales history.

How to invite a co-producer

The product owner should invite co-producers, but before sending the invitation, ensure the co-producer is already registered on the platform.

Then, within the product editing screen, click on Co-production -> Invite co-producer, fill in the co-production agreement details, and click Invite.

How to accept a co-production invitation

When someone invites you to be a co-producer, you receive an email.

You can accept or decline the invitation by visiting your Kiwify dashboard, going to Products -> My Co-productions, and clicking on the [...] icon on the right corner of your co-production to accept or decline.

How are commissions divided?

Commissions are divided after deducting the Kiwify fee.

For example:

Let's say your Kiwify fee is 7% + $1.00, and your product is sold for $100.00.

Suppose the co-production agreement states that 60% goes to the product owner and 40% to the co-producer.

First, we deduct 7% + $1.00 from $100.00 = $92.00.

This $92.00 is then divided between the main producer and the co-producer.

60% of $92.00 = $55.20 goes to the product owner.
40% of $92.00 = $36.80 goes to the co-producer.

Is it possible to cancel a co-production?

While the co-production invitation hasn't been accepted, the product owner can cancel the invitation.

After the invitation is accepted, only the co-producer can cancel the co-production and stop receiving commissions. The product owner cannot cancel alone.

Note that co-production contracts are typically valid for 30 days by default, but you can customize the contract duration.

When a contract expires, the co-producer stops receiving commissions.

Does the co-producer have access to the product and sales?

The co-producer (the one receiving the invitation) has access to the sales history.

By default, the co-producer doesn't have permission to edit the product or member area, nor to issue refunds.

If you want to grant more permissions to the co-producer, you can invite them as a collaborator in your account.

What if I'm a co-producer working with multiple experts, how can I give them access?

You have two options:

- You register the product in your account and invite the expert as a co-producer. In this case, the expert will only have access to sales. The expert won't have access to the member area or product editing.

- You register the product in the expert's account (meaning the expert is the product owner), and the expert invites you to be a co-producer. Then, the expert invites you as a collaborator, giving you full access to their account.

This way, the expert has full access to the product, member area, and sales, and you can fully manage the expert's account and product.
